Rajeev has over 25 years of global operating and investing experience in the U.S., Asia and Europe. Rajeev founded Basil Partners as a Family Office in 2008 which has invested, and co-invested on behalf of other HNIs and Family Offices, in over 16 high growth IT Services companies. Basil & the co-investors have exited from 6 of these investments at returns of between 2x – 6x.

Prior to Basil Partners, between 2006 and 2008, Rajeev was an Angel Investor in 6 companies via Basil International Investments Ltd. Prior to this, as co-Founder and CEO, Rajeev built Apar Infotech Corp into a USD 78m Enterprise Value company between 1996 and 2003. He raised two rounds of venture capital from Insight Capital and Warburg Pincus Ventures and guided Apar through a merger with Ness Technologies, Inc. in 2003. Rajeev was on the Board of Directors & Executive Management of Ness and, in 2004, was also actively involved in Ness’ IPO (NASDAQ listing). The merger with Ness and subsequent IPO provided excellent returns to both Insight Capital Partners (IRR 89%) and Warburg Pincus (25% IRR). Prior to co-founding Apar, Rajeev worked with IGATE as the Director & Head of Asia Pacific Operations and as a Project Manager in TCS across Mumbai, Singapore, and New Jersey.

Rajeev possesses a Bachelors Degree in Engineering and a Masters in Management Studies from Bombay University.

Sameer Kanwar

Sameer has over 25 years of experience in the IT Industry with focus on Global Business Development, Alliances, Marketing & Analyst Relations and Strategy for IT Products & Services. At Basil Partners, Sameer is involved in working closely with the portfolio companies to help drive their growth, investment & exit strategies, including identifying, screening and carrying out due diligence on potential M&A targets.

Sameer is currently on the Board of Directors of Relevance Lab. He was on the Board of Directors at Accion Labs up to the investment by TA Associates in March, 2020, and currently is an Advisor to the Board at Accion Labs. He was earlier a Board Member at Apar Technologies, GAVS Technologies & IT Convergence and was also on the Advisory Board of CIGNEX Datamatics, Endeavour Technologies, Netscribes and Neev Technologies (all successful exits for Basil).

Prior to joining Basil Partners on a dedicated basis, he represented the Basil team at Powerdesk Technologies as Global Director - Sales & Marketing. He was responsible for conceptualizing and launching a patented IT Product to reduce Operational Expenses of Enterprises across Power, Space and IT Security. Prior to this, Sameer was at Ness Technologies where he was responsible for Strategy & Business Development for the UK SBU, Global Pre-sales & as an Offshore Evangelist. Prior to that he was Head, Apar Consulting Solutions Division – Asia-Pac based in Singapore. He has also worked for Parametric Technologies and Wipro Infotech.

Sameer possesses a Bachelor in Engineering (Computers) and a Masters in Management Studies from Mumbai University.

Sanjiv Maheshwari

Senior Advisor

In his capacity as Senior Advisor to Basil, Sanjiv helps in the Financial, Governance and Operations support to the Basil and Basil Portfolio companies, including assistance in M&A.

Prior to his role at Basil, Sanjiv was a Senior VP – Finance and Operations at Ness Global Services Group. He oversaw the controller, treasury, finance and operations at Ness Global Services Group’s businesses in India, the United States, the United Kingdom and in Singapore. Sanjiv had been part of the core team during the integration of Ness and Apar Infotech in 2003-04. Prior to joining Apar Infotech in 2000, Sanjiv was a part of the core team at Sandoz, Novartis and Syngenta. He has worked in various positions relating to Corporate and Divisional Finance, Budgeting and Planning strategies, Supply Chain Management, MIS and M&A exercises over a period of 14 years.

A Cost Accountant, Sanjiv received a Masters in Management Studies degree from Mumbai University.

Prashant Rathi

Vice President

Prashant assists in all activities related to finance, accounts, regulatory compliance, audits, treasury and due diligence for acquisitions and valuation.

Prior to Basil, Prashant was involved in Internal Audits & Risk Management for industries such as Retail, Healthcare, Shipping, Hospitality & Telecom.

Prashant is a Chartered Accountant, a Certified Treasury Manager and a Certified Internal Auditor.

Baldev Maheshwari

Associate Director - Business Development

Baldev works closely with the Leadership team in identifying Investment and M&A opportunities. Baldev is also responsible for facilitating cross-selling opportunities within the Basil portfolio. Baldev actively engages with the portfolio companies to understand their clients and their service offerings. This process aids in the analysis of each company’s existing technology landscape and helps identify potential solutions and partnerships that the other Basil portfolio companies can leverage. He has also been driving Basil's Annual Portfolio Conference for the senior leadership across portfolio companies.

Baldev holds a Bachelor in Management Studies (Finance) and a Masters in Business Administration (Marketing) from Mumbai University.

Abhay Maheshwari

Investment Associate

Abhay is actively involved in working with the leadership team across the valuation of portfolio companies, compliance and the quarterly portfolio reporting. He is also involved in the end-to-end process of evaluating companies for potential investments by Basil as well for M&A with portfolio companies.

Prior to Basil, Abhay focused on M&A and Business Development at Accion Labs, an Emerging Technology focused IT Services company. He also gained experienced in accounting, legal, tax and audit functions as part of his articleship.

Abhay is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mumbai University.
